The Private Sector Team's work includes improving private homes, working with private landlords, using enforcement to bring poor homes up to standard and reducing empty homes. The team is also responsible for delivery of the Housing Market Renewal programme. This is a long term plan to transform neighbourhoods in Oldham, creating a better mix of housing, more suited to modern needs.

The Housing Strategy Team is responsible for developing long-term plans for a number of housing issues in Oldham. This includes securing future investment in Council-owned homes, managing the Housing picture of family Private Finance Initiative (PFI) programmes, tackling fuel poverty and working with partners to build new homes.
