ContactPoint - Information Sharing

ContactPoint is the new name for the national Information Sharing Index.

  • It will provide a quick way for those professionals working with children and young people to find out who else is working with the same child or young person, making it easier to deliver coordinated support.
  • This online directory will be available only to authorised staff who need it to do their jobs, and will have stringent security requirements for access, including an enhanced CRB check that is less than 3 years old.
  • It is a national database for all children and young people under the age of 18 years.
  • The regulations for ContactPoint (known as the Children Act 2004 Information Database (England) Regulations 2007) are now in force.
  • It is a key part of the Every Child Matters programme to
improve outcomes for children. Visit the website for more information:

  • ContactPoint will support the delivery of the Every Child Matters programme, in particular integrated processes such as the Common Assessment Framework, Lead Professional, integrated front line delivery including Children's Centres and extended schools, and help identify children missing from education.
