CAF Training Courses

Further Common Assessment Framework training dates are now available for 2008. The training consists of a basic half- day course. (9.30am to 1.30pm). Participants will be from a range of wide agencies.

Those who carry out the CAF training, at the end of the course each participant should:

  • Understand The Common Assessment Framework and its place in the Every Child Matters Agenda.
  • Understand issues around Information Sharing
  • Be able to complete a CAF
  • Understand how Multi-agency CAF meetings function
  • Understand the role of The Lead Professional

CAF Cards training has been specifically developed to fully engage and empower young people in the Common Assessment process. The CAF Cards can enable them to learn to shape and design a more rewarding future. The cards fulfil a number of functions:

  • They invite young people to engage in the CAF process
  • They create motivation to explore and create new meanings
  • They allow young people to see graphically where they are at the moment
  • They reveal the options that were already there and leave the young person with new choices.

The workshop will enable participants to be introduced to the CAF cards and road sign cards and demonstrate how the cards can be used with young people. The workshop will be interactive and provide examples of their use with the CAF framework. All participants will receive a set of CAF Cards and Road Sign cards and a handbook. Please note that participants who wish to take the CAF CARD training need to complete the CAF training first.

Chairing multi-agency meetings

A short course (3hrs) for those people who want to become more skilled at chairing meetings, particularly those involving multi-agencies.

  • You will learn how to effectively chair meetings and how to go about getting the best out of those attending.
  • You should have completed the CAF basic course before applying for this course.

The maximum capacity for each training course is 20 participants depending on the size of the venue. Set out below is all the dates; please chose which area would be good for you. The number in the brackets represents the number of places still available.
