Fly tipping is a criminal offence. The perpetrators avoid paying to get their waste disposed of properly and also avoid paying landfill tax. This is paid by all responsible members of the community disposing of their waste.
It costs all council tax payers when the council has to remove the flytipped waste. The Council is therefore committed to tracking down and prosecuting fly tippers whenever possible.
Flytipping is unsightly and badly damages local environments. It discourages communities from taking pride in their area and can also be a health hazard where waste attracts and harbours vermin.
