Both parties to the marriage must give notice of their intention to marry in person to the Oldham Register Office if they live in the Oldham Metropolitan Borough. If the marriage is to take place elsewhere then it is advisable to make a provisional booking with the office concerned for that office to perform the ceremony on the day. This can normally be done 12 months in advance of the date of the marriage. Notice of marriage can also be given 12 months prior to the date of the wedding but no less than 15 clear days before the wedding is due to take place. A nationally set fee is payable to the Register Office in respect of each notice and this may be subject to change annually. Please enquire with the Register Office where the venue is located for fees payable for the service on the day and for information regarding the form of ceremony etc.
A national list is available at a cost of £500 from the General Register Office (Local Services) giving details all venues currently holding licenses for civil marriages Telephone 01704 569824 for more information.
