Visual and Physical Impairment Team

Operational responsibilities

  • Promote and support the inclusion of children and young people with visual impairment aged 0-19 and physical impairment school age – 19, and their parents, carers and colleagues in pre-school settings schools and colleges from diagnosis.
  • Management and maintenance of low vision devices and study aids in collaboration with the Health Authority as appropriate.
  • Specialist assessment, advice, support and teaching for children and young people who have VI or PI in a range of settings. To include access assessment advice and training relating to moving and handling.
  • Interpret clinical information, identify the access and educational implications of VI and or PI and advise on reasonable adjustments.
  • Monitor the progress of all children and young people diagnosed with a hearing impairment who live in Oldham or attend Oldham schools.
