Parent Partnership Service

Service aims:

To promote effective working partnerships between parents and school, the Local Authority and any others who support children who have special or additional educational needs.

How does partnership help?

The service offers confidential, one to one, impartial parental support and enables parents of children who have additional educational needs to become partners in the identification and assessment of the child’s additional educational needs and the provision required to meet their needs in school.

Who does the service help?

Parents and carers of children aged 2-19 in education.

It also supports anyone working with these children.

How does the service work?

The service supports families of children with additional needs.

All calls are confidential.

Options include:

  • Working out an action plan with parents
  • Providing independent, impartial information
  • Access to various sources of independent support
  • Access to drop-in sessions at numerous locations
  • Personal support at meetings involving your child
  • Providing ways to resolve disputes
  • Access to voluntary mediation.

The service is not restricted to parents. Anyone who has involvement with children who have additional educational needs can contact the service.
