The Educational Psychology Service

Members of the Educational and Child Psychology Service (ECPS) promote the development, learning and well-being of children and young people aged 0-19 years through the application of psychological principles, tools and techniques.

Who are we?

ECPS has 10 full time equivalent psychologists, one child & family therapist, and 1.5 admin/clerical staff

All psychologists in Oldham are chartered and have the following qualifications:

  • a first degree in psychology
  • a teaching qualification, e.g. PGCE or B.Ed.
  • at least two years teaching experience
  • a Masters degree in educational psychology

Our therapist has the following qualifications:

  • Senior Residential Social Worker
  • QTS classroom teacher
  • Coordinator and trainer of Webster –Stratton Programme  
  • Qualified and experienced counsellor (Diploma and Post-Grad Certificate in Supervision)

The services we provide

Work is carried out in partnership with individuals and groups of children, teachers, parents/carers and other adults in educational and other settings. Work may be at an individual, group, organisational or systemic level.

Enquiries are accepted from schools and other educational establishments; children’s services teams; child & adolescent mental health services; youth offending service; parents/carers and young people.

Service Standards

  • The Educational & Child Psychology Service works in partnership with parents, children and young people, schools and other agencies to identify and assess special educational needs in accordance with the SEN Code of Practice (2001: Education Act 1996).
  • Educational  & Child Psychology Service professional standards are governed by The British Psychological Society codes of ethical and professional conduct.
  • All Psychologists are chartered or eligible for chartered status.
  • The Educational & Child Psychology Service provides clients with a service that respects confidentiality, promotes equality of opportunities and does not discriminate on grounds of race, disability, culture, gender, religion or sexual orientation.

We believe it is best for schools, parents and ourselves to work in partnership, but where a parent/carer or other professional wishes to contact us directly, they are welcome to do so.

Availability

The office is staffed Monday to Friday from 8.45am to 4.00pm
