Development of the Greater Manchester Joint Waste Development Plan Document (JWDPD) commenced in September 2006. Initial consultation work was undertaken during Autumn 2006 through a series of stakeholder events. Due to the wide range of issues identified through these events, it was decided that a two stage approach should be adopted for the preparation of Issues and Options for the JWDPD.
The Stage 2 Issues and Options Report will be issued for consultation for 6 weeks between Monday 6th October – Friday 14th November. It will revisit the issue of need for waste management facilities and explore the type of facilities that might be required as well as taking into account feedback received through the Stage One Issues and Options consultation
Importantly, it begins to identify possible sites or areas where provision of new or improved waste management facilities might be suitable together with options for the spatial distribution of such facilities across the whole of Greater Manchester.
It also discusses possible approaches towards the provision of a set of development management policies that will help to guide decisions on future planning applications.
