Shaw and Crompton

Shaw and Crompton district is made up of the Wards of Shaw and Crompton. It includes a vibrant town centre with many local amenities and shops.

Shaw and Crompton lies in the valley of the River Beal in the Pennine foothills. Until the middle of the 19th Century, the township was made up of scattered hill farms. Then the industrial revolution changed the valley landscape with red brick cotton mills.
