There is a wide range of local treatment services and support groups for people affected by drugs and alcohol.
Oldham Alcohol and Substance Intervention Service (OASIS@Connexions)
- Service for people up to 19 years of age
- Provides help, advice and information to support young people to resist pressures to misuse
- Confidential advice and information for those young people who are already using substances
- Offers advice and support for young people who are affected by other peoples substance misuse
- Provide support and advice for parents and carers and have a dedicated parenting worker
- There is a drop in service at the Centre and a free phone number for help any time
- Clients will receive counselling and one-to-one support from an identified key worker

Service for young people aged 18 - 25 years olds using alcohol, cocaine, cannabis, ecstasy, steroids, legal highs and other stimulants..
Each client will be allocated a dedicated key worker for one to one work, advice and support
There is a dedicated Employment, Training and Education worker to help with CVs, job applications, interview techniques and volunteering opportunities.

- Service for people aged over 18 years old who are using alcohol, benzodiazepines, prescription or OTC medicines
- Single point of contact for Community Alcohol Service
- Provide brief intervention and advice
- Referral to inpatient detox and residential rehabilitation for alcohol
- Alcohol Treatment Requirements/Alcohol Arrest Referrals - for those people involved with the criminal justice system where alcohol has been deemed a contributing factor

Intuitive Recovery
'Re-education for Addictions via a short and focused OCN accredited course which arms students with an easily implemented toolkit to end addiction.
The course teaches the skills of self-recovery and allows people to end addiction without the need for treatment and continuing support.
It is focussed entirely on a plan to stop, the course is for anyone wishing to give a substance up.
The course consists of four 2 and 1/2 hour sessions.

ACORN
RAMP - Reduction and Motivation Programme
A 12 week structured psychosocial intervention that looks at all issues connected to addiction.
Designed to be delivered to service users whilst they are still using substances.
Aims to empower service users to improve their quality of life through reducing their use.
Experienced facilitators allow the group to explore the thoughts and feelings that contribute to their substance use.
The groups are held on Mondays and Thursday at 2:00pm to 4:00pm at 14 Church Lane, Oldham, OL1 3BP.
The groups are also held on Tuesday and Fridays at 2:00pm to 4:00pm at The Gateway, 5 Horsedge Street, Oldham, OL1 1QN.
DEAP - Dependency Emotional Attachment Programme
Abstinent based service made up of 4 phases.
Treatment combines group work, 1:1 counselling, family conferencing and structured activities.
Therapy includes elements of Psychodynamic Therapy, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and RET.
Run on a 5 day week basis for 20 weeks combining supported accommodation.

SMART Recovery Group
Oldham Addiction Dependency Solutions (ADS) facilitate a SMART (Self Management and Recovery Training) Recovery Group on Thursdays at 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
The group is held at ADS, 5 Greaves Street, Oldham OL1 1QN.
The group offers free face-to-face mutual support and helps people recover from all types of addictive behaviours, including alcohol and substance misuse.
The programme provides specific tools and techniques to enable people to gain independence from addiction and is for those who desire, or are thinking about, abstinence.
The tools are based on scientific knowledge and the techniques used employ Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy.

Concerned Others Group
Oldham Addiction Dependency Solutions (ADS) run a support and advice group for family and friends of those who use alcohol or drugs. The group is a place to talk and share experiences. There is also an opportunity to have acupuncture to help relaxation.
The group runs on Tuesdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Women's Group
Oldham Drug and Alcohol Service run a Womens Group where women have the opportunity to meet and share experiences and support. The group offers information sessions, health and well-being support, plus a female only needle exchange. There is an opportunity to join in with arts and crafts, card making, poetry, relaxation techniques and other activities.
The group runs on Mondays from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
The group is held at The Gateway, 5 Horsedge Street, Oldham, OL1 1QN.
The group is open to all female service users and their female friends and relatives - people can just come along to join.

UFO - Users Forum Oldham
This is a service user consultation group, where drug and alcohol clients are asked their opinions of the treatment service available in Oldham.
The group runs on Wednesdays from 2:00pm to 3:00 pm
The group is held at The Gateway, 5 Horsedge Street, Oldham, OL1 1QN
The group is also a place for members to discuss their substance use or to chat and make new friends. The group organises a number of activities and trips that are all free of charge. You do not have to be in treatment to attend and can just come along.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Meetings
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcohol addiction and stay sober.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.
There are several meetings in Oldham:

Al-Anon Meetings
Al-Anon Family Groups provide support to anyone whose life is, or has been, affected by someone elses drinking. Al-Anon is a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience in order to solve their common problems.
The group runs on Wednesdays at 7:30pm.

Alateen Meetings
Alateen is for teenage relatives and friends of alcoholics. Alateen is part of Al-Anon. The meetings are attended by 12-17 year olds.
They meet to share their experiences of having, or having had, a problem drinker in their lives. They help and support each other.
Each Alateen meeting is sponsored by two experienced Al-Anon members who are screened and cleared to work with young people by the Criminal Records Bureau in England and Wales.

Narcotics Anonymous Meetings
NA is a non-profit fellowship of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. The group is made up of recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using drugs.

Oldham TRANX Support
Tranx (Oldham) is an independent support group to support people recovering from addiction to prescription drugs.
The group is run by ex- and partially withdrawn addicts who have experienced all symptoms and side-effects of benzodiazepine and other psychiatric drugs. The group also offers support to those involuntarily addicted to anti-depressants, SSRIs, Z drugs and pain killers.
The group meets on Mondays from 11:00am - 1:00pm.
