Lees Library Community Hub

Volunteer at the Hub

Become a Lees Library Community Hub volunteer!

If you have some spare time we can offer you a range of volunteering roles.

We need reliable people who enjoy working with the general public.

In return you’ll learn new skills, gain experience and help others in a friendly environment.

Who can become volunteers?

We are looking for adults and young people.

Anyone aged 12 years or over can apply. No qualifications or previous library experience are needed and you’ll receive full training.

Adult volunteers can become…

Basic skills mentors

Share your passion for English or Maths and help others improve their reading, writing, arithmetic and IT skills.

Events assistants

Help us organise a number of community events, storytelling and craft sessions.

Local history helpers

If you love Lees then you can help with our local history project. Photographers are also needed to record the local landscape.

You can also volunteer as a homework mentor, organise our coffee afternoons or promote the Hub in your local area.

Young volunteers can become…

Computer skills mentors

Pass on your IT skills to people who are new to computers.

Children’s books assistants

Help us start a new book group and other reading activities for children.

Summer Reading Challenge assistants

Inspire younger children to read more during the summer holidays.

Young people’s events helpers

Set up Yu Gi Oh! and computer games clubs and run events for young people.

Training and support

As a volunteer you will get support and supervision so you can make a valuable contribution to Lees Library Community Hub.

We will give you on-the-job training to develop knowledge and confidence. All training leads to skills-based certificates in your chosen role.

You’ll also gain useful work experience that will look good on your CV or school record. We will be happy to act as a referee in the future.

Expenses can also be repaid to volunteers working on Hub projects.
