Metrolink road travel alerts
Union Street/Prince Street/Bow Street
What: Next stage of the Union Street track laying will be between Waterloo Street and Prince Street.
Effect: Access to Union Street will be along Yorkshire Street, Rhodes Bank and Waterloo Street.
When: Tuesday 5 February
Union Street
What: Part of Union Street is closed between Waterloo Street and Rhodes Bank for Utility works and permanently closed between Clegg Street to Peter Street/Hobson Street for construction of Oldham Central tram stop. Southgate Street closed for resurfacing.
Effect: Local diversion route along Rhodes Bank, Waterloo Street, Union Street, Clegg Street, Ascroft Street, and Peter Street.
When: Until further notice
Bower Street
What: Part of Bower Street westbound from the junction with Shaw Street will be closed and part of Bower Street eastbound will be down to one way traffic for utility works.
Effect: local diversions in place along Gould Street , Stampstone Street , Shaw Road . Shaw Road traffic will also be controlled by 2 way traffic signals to help traffic flow.
When: Friday 15 to Sun 17 February
Brunswick Street and Chaucer Street
What: Brunswick Street and Chaucer Street (south side of Union Street) will be closed for track laying works.
Effect: Local diversion along Hobson Street, Emmott way, Waterloo Street and Union Street.
When: Tuesday 4 December (for 12 weeks)
Hobson Street
What: Hobson Street now reopened at the junction of Union Street.
Effect: New traffic flow applies on Hobson Street.
- One way traffic (southbound) from Union Street to Phoenix Street
- Two way traffic from Phoenix Street to Cromwell Street
When: Until further notice.
Manchester Street roundabout
What: Manchester Street roundabout will be closed 8pm-6am Monday-to-Friday for up to fifteen nights.
Effect: Local diversions in place
When: Starting mid February (dependent upon weather conditions).
Manchester Street roundabout
What: Northbound slip road is closed on Manchester Street roundabout (towards Middleton Road and Oldham Way). Some off-peak lane closures on the approach to the roundabout.
Effect: Local diversion via Manchester Street and King Street.
When: Until further notice.
New Link Road
What: A new traffic lane through the centre of the roundabout is now open.
Effect: It is traffic signal controlled and allows vehicles coming from Manchester, along Manchester Street, to turn right onto Oldham Way towards Mumps.
