Bulky waste

Oldham Council works with Bulky Bob's to collect bulky household waste for free.

  • Collected from your doorstep
  • A quarter of the waste will be recycled or re-used
  • Training for long-term unemployed people

Limit of 5 items every 30 days.

Try to keep items clean and dry so they can be re-used.

You can take unwanted furniture to the Arkwright Street Houshold Waste and Recycling Centre.

We can collect

  • 3 piece suites (classed as one item)
  • Bed frames
  • Bikes
  • Carpets - If dry and rolled up and tied
  • Computers including monitor and printer (classed as one item)
  • Cookers
  • Cots
  • Desks (if we can move them and they have been for residential use)
  • Dishwashers
  • Display units
  • Divan bases (if dry)
  • Electrical goods (small ones e.g. kettles, irons and toasters)
  • Filing cabinets (if we can move them and they have been for residential use)
  • Fire surrounds
  • Fish tanks (empty)
  • Fridge/Freezers
  • Furniture - free standing i.e.no fitted kitchen or bathroom units
  • Gas fires (disconnected from the mains)
  • Heaters (free standing)
  • High chairs
  • Hoovers
  • Mattresses (if dry)
  • Microwaves
  • Mirrors - Free standing and wall-mounted (not removed from wardrobes etc)
  • Gym equipment e.g. Exercise bike, rowing machine
  • Pool table (at driver’s discretion)
  • Prams
  • Sewing machines
  • Sideboards
  • Table and chairs (classed as one item)
  • Table tennis table (at driver’s discretion)
  • Televisions

  • Bags of miscellaneous items
  • Builders waste
  • Clothing and fabric
  • Cylinders (gas)
  • Domestic refuse
  • Fixtures and fittings (units, doors, windows, bathroom/kitchen suites etc)
  • Garden waste
  • House clearances (more than 5 items)
  • Liquids or hazardous waste
  • Sun beds
  • Toys

Bulky Bob’s are an award-winning business who aim to re-use, recycle and refurbish at least 25% by tonnage of the items they collect.

Thousands of items of furniture picked up by Bulky Bob’s crews are made available to families on low income.
