Regenerating Oldham

Regeneration is a programme of land redevelopment to increase the vitality and activity in centres across the borough.

The programme is made possible with the help of the North West Development Agency and English Partnerships.

Housing PFI 4 - Gateways to Oldham

Oldham Council agreed a landmark deal on 30th November 2011 to develop new public housing across four sites in the Borough through the "Gateways to Oldham" PFI contract.

The Council and the Inspiral Oldham Consortium, which consists of Regenter, Wates Living Space and Great Places Housing Group, officially signed the 25 year contract on 30th November 2011.

The project will see around 700 new homes being built or refurbished over three years on the Crossley and Primrose Bank estates and on brownfield sites at Westwood and Fitton Hill. This is a significant boost to the construction industry in Oldham.

Building Schools for the Future

The borough has received Government approval to be in wave 4 of the national programme to renew secondary schools.

Primary Health Care – LIFT Programme

The Oldham Primary Care Trust has commenced a major regeneration programme to replace and provide new health centres in the Borough.

A private finance partnership has been established under the Governments LIFT (Local Investment Finance Trust) Programme.

The partnership in the Borough is Community 1st Oldham LTD.

Metrolink

Approval has been granted for the conversion of the Oldham/Rochdale heavy rail line to be converted to a high speed tram route as an extension of Manchester’s Metrolink.
