What the service is

The Private Finance Initiative 2 Sheltered Housing Scheme will transform over half the council owned sheltered homes in Oldham.

It will deliver around 1,500 designated sheltered council owned properties, which includes 854 bungalows and 19 group schemes. These are spread across the borough in Alt, Chadderton, Coldhurst, Delph, Failsworth, Greenfield, Grotton, Hathershaw, Hollinwood, Holts Village, Lees, Primrose Bank, Royton, Shaw, Springhead and Waterhead.

The scheme is a partnership between Oldham Council, Housing 21, Bullock Construction and Allied Irish Bank.

There will substantial work on existing properties. This will include improving internal layout allowing wheelchair access to some properties, improved accessibility through lifts to some flatted schemes, new, state of the art door entry and warden call systems, replacement doors, windows, heating systems, kitchens and bathrooms (to include level access showers), environmental and security work.

Who the service is for

The scheme provides quality housing for older people, giving them the means to live independently for as long as possible
