What if I have had problems with opening a Bank Account?

Most banks can now provide you with a basic bank account, which might be available to you even if you have encountered problems opening an account in the past. A leaflet on basic bank accounts is available at the Civic Centre’s One Stop Shop or by calling the payment line on 0161-770-6611.

I’m a tenant of Housing 21, how can I pay my rent?

Housing 21 Tenants can only pay rent directly to Housing 21. To enquire about payment options please call 0845 604 4447.

Can I make payments by cash or cheque?

Cash and cheque payments can be made at Post Offices and cash payments can be made at PayPoint or PayZone depending on the service you are making payments for. To pay your rent, you will need your swipe card.

Can I post a cheque to FCHO?

No. Unfortunately since the ending of cash collection we can no longer accept cheques.

Can I check my account balance?

Will I get a receipt?

When customers make a payment at the Post Office and PayPoint/PayZone outlets they will receive a receipt. If they pay over the telephone line, you will be given a payment reference number to confirm their payment has gone through. All Direct Debit, Standing Orders, Internet and Telephone Payments will be shown on your bank statement.

Do I need my reference number to make a payment?

Yes, customers need to have your bill or swipe card available in order that the reference number can be taken when making a payment via any of the available methods.

How long does a Swipe Card take to arrive?

On average 14 days.

When are my non-payment weeks?

Your non payment weeks are on:

  • Week 1 – 7 April 2008
  • Week 2 – 14 April 2008
  • Week 38 – 22 December 2008
  • Week 39 – 29 December 2008
