Squatters
In all cases we will take action against a person who unlawfully occupies one of our empty properties.
Our empty properties are usually awaiting repair, redecoration or re-letting and we are keen to ensure they stay empty so that our applicants, with a rehousing need, have the opportunity to find a home.
The laws on squatting are quite complex and we cannot simply evict a person who is squatting. If you become aware of squatters in a property that you know should be vacant, perhaps one tenant has moved out and another has not yet moved in, we would be grateful if you would tell us.
