Housing Support
Our Housing Support team offers Resettlement Support Services and a Supported Lodgings Scheme to vulnerable customers who have a variety of needs.
Resettlement Services
Our Resettlement Services aim to help those who require extra support settling into suitable temporary or permanent accommodation.
If you use our Resettlement Services you will be allocated a Support Worker who will work with you to identify your support needs, an individual support plan will then be drawn up. These services aim to promote independence. You are encouraged and supported to do things for yourself wherever possible.
The type of support that we offer includes:

- Applying for appropriate accommodation
- Support before, during and after a move
- Budgeting
- Daily living skills
- Applying for benefits
- Settling into the area and accessing local groups and facilities etc
- Access to training or employment
- Arranging longer term support from other agencies if required
The amount of support given is gradually reduced and eventually withdrawn once you feel you can cope independently. If you are interested in the Resettlement Service complete our Housing Support Scheme Referral Form (PDF 1,51KB)
Supported Lodgings Scheme
Our Supported Lodgings Scheme is an accommodation option for people who do not feel ready to live on their own.
The scheme is open to anyone over 16 years old who is homeless or is living in unsuitable accommodation.
Lodgings providers have been recruited throughout Oldham. They are people who have a spare room and are willing to offer accommodation and support to a person who needs it.
This is provided until the lodger feels ready to move into more independent accommodation. Lodgers and lodging providers work together to help the lodger gain the skills and confidence necessary for independent living. One of our scheme workers provides support to both the lodger and lodgings provider.
Whilst in supported lodgings the lodger is expected to claim Housing Benefit, which will meet some of the costs. Lodgers are also expected to pay an amount towards food and bills.
If you would like to consider Supported Lodgings as an accommodation option please complete our Housing Support Scheme Referral Form (PDF 1,51KB)
Thinking of Providing Support Lodgings?
The scheme is always seeking people who have a spare room and are willing to provide supported lodgings. Lodging providers receive an induction and ongoing training, support from an allocated scheme worker and financial remuneration in the form of a weekly rent.
If you would like more information about becoming a lodging provider and the associated quality and security checks, please complete our Lodging Providers Application Form (PDF 120KB).
We look forward to hearing from you.
