The FCHO Race Equality Scheme outline how FCHO plans to meet the general and specific duties as specified in the Race Relations Act 1976 and Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000; in order to promote racial equality within the organisation.
The Scheme highlights how FCHO has and further intends to positively promote and deliver race equality in all of its functions and reinforces our commitment to achieving equality in terms of employment, services delivery, the decision making processes and in everything we do. This is reflected in the FCHO’s Values and Corporate Objectives. One of FCHO’s stated values is ‘treating people equally and with respect’. Similarly, one of its the corporate objectives FCHO works towards is ‘Community Cohesion’.
FCHO understand that the Race Relations (Amendment) 2000 is about institutional change and for this reason responsibility for its implementation lies with all of FCHO’s Board and Officers. The Scheme places particular emphasis on the role of the Board and senior managers to ensure that race equality is always considered at the most senior decision-making levels of FCHO. It is our intention that key stakeholders such as local minority ethnic and wider communities, staff, managers and partner agencies are continuously engaged with to ensure their views are reflected in FCHOs Race Equality Scheme.
