Equality and Diversity at FCHO

Housing is not just about bricks and mortar, it is about people, neighbourhoods and communities.

FCHO recognises that people who provide and use its services come from many diverse backgrounds, with varying experiences and needs. FCHO promotes diversity, equality of opportunity, eliminates discrimination, and brings about positive change for those experiencing disadvantage.

FCHO Equality and Diversity Statement

First Choice Homes Oldham believes that everyone should be treated equally and fairly regardless of their race, ethnic origin, nationality, religion, cultural background, sex, sexuality, disability, domestic circumstances, illness, age, employment status, membership of trade unions or political beliefs.

FCHO is committed to the concept and practice of equality of opportunity and to combating discrimination, direct or indirect, through our policies and procedures covering admission to the housing register, allocation of housing, provision of services, Board membership and structure, and employment practices.

We are committed to taking positive steps to help redress the effects of discrimination and disadvantage, ensuring that equality of opportunity is integral to all our activities.

Our Commitment

Equality and Diversity is at the heart of everything that we do and is an underlying theme within FCHO’s values and objectives. We believe that Equality and Diversity is key to striving to deliver excellent housing services and in building cohesive, sustainable communities where everyone can live peacefully in their own home, regardless of their background and needs.

To demonstrate this, FCHO have strategies and action plans in place that outline our commitment and targets on how we aim to drive the Equality, Diversity and Community Cohesion Agenda forward.  Visit the links below for more information on our vision for Equality and Diversity.
