FCHO is committed to tackling the ongoing problem of graffiti. This is an illegal, anti-social activity that creates a negative impression of an area and contributes to people's fear of crime. It is estimated that graffiti costs the UK over £1 billion per year to clean up. It can lead to the decline of an area and a lack of respect for the place in which people live, work and play.
Graffiti will be removed from areas such as Council property, including parks and open spaces Highways land, including footways, subways and bridges, street furniture, etc. Public and private property with the owners consent
FCHO are committed to the removal of racist, offensive or abusive graffiti within 24 hours from the time of the report being made. Target times for all other offences are 5 working days from the date of it being reported.
FCHO have a team of dedicated caretakers who work with our customers and stakeholders to tackle and respond to any reports of graffiti. Graffiti is reported in a number of ways, FCHO customers can report it by telephoning the contact centre on 0161 770 6699 This is generated into a work order and given to the Graffiti team who will assess its priority and take action accordingly. Graffiti is also reported by FCHO housing officers who regularly undertake estate walkabouts about with tenants and area caretakers. Members of public and shop owners can also report Graffiti to us.
