The Mission Statement

“To develop a high quality representative children’s workforce and ensure effective school governance.”

The Workforce Development and Governance Service aims to:

  • Ensure the Service is easily accessible to its clients
  • Ensure clients have access to professional progression routes
  • Ensure equality of opportunity for all in accessing accreditation, and volunteering and employment opportunities in teaching, education support and school leadership (governance)
  • Ensure the quality of accreditation provision
  • Increase the supply of qualified teachers, education support staff, and Governors in Oldham Borough
  • Provide access to professional qualifications for aspiring teachers, education support staff and members of the wider children’s workforce
  • Increase the numbers of ethnic minority employees and governors, and other under-represented groups, in the children’s workforce and on Governing Bodies
  • To ensure adequate coverage, quality and transferability of qualification provision for local needs
  • Move to electronic communication wherever appropriate

We will maintain our standard of service by:

  • Employing high quality and committed staff
  • Ensuring that staff are updated with current issues and legislations
  • Ensuring that all client materials are up to date at the time it is sent

We will listen to people to find out what they expect of the Workforce and Development Service. In particular we will:

  • Find out what our customers think of our service by regular customer survey questionnaires
  • Respond promptly to letters, phone calls and e-mails. We will reply or acknowledge your communication within 10 working days.
  • We will welcome suggestions on how the service can be improved.
  • We will answer requests for information promptly and accurately
  • We will provide you with an answer to your enquiry while you wait or tell you how long it will take and get back to you
  • If we are unable to help you with your enquiry we will try to refer you to an organisation/department that might be able to help
  • We will provide you with information about a wide range of our services including:
    • NVQ 3 for Teaching/Classroom Assistants
    • NVQ 3 / 4 for Learning Mentors
    • Graduate Teacher Programme
    • Teacher Recruitment & Retention
    • Workforce re-modelling
    • Continuing Professional Development for the Children’s Workforce
