Q. As a European Union citizen can I vote at all elections?
You can only vote at local elections. If you wish to vote at European Parliamentary Elections in Oldham you must complete an RP25 Form, if you are unsure as to whether or not you have completed one already you can check by contacting the Elections Office.
Q. This is my second home, can I register?
Yes, you are entitled to register from both.
Q. I am a student registered from my home address, can I register here?
Yes, students are entitled to register from their home address and their term time address, you are not legally required to register from both. However it is illegal to vote twice at the same election.
Q. I have let Council Tax know that I moved, does this information get passed on to the Elections Office?
No, in order to update your information you need to complete a Rolling Registration Form and return it directly to the Elections Office.
Q. I have been refused credit because they say I am not registered. What can I do?
If your name is not on the register you need to obtain, fill in and return a Rolling Registration Form. If it appears your name is on the register then the Elections Office can provide you with a letter to confirm this. You can then present it to the organisation or company you are dealing with. We will not provide your information to anyone other than you.
Q. How do I check if my name appears on the Electoral Register?
Call at the following Libraries throughout the Borough, where the register is available for inspection via a computer:

Limeside Library
Royton Library
Or call in at or contact the Elections Office where the Register can be viewed via a computer or in paper form under supervision.
Q. Can I buy a copy of the Electoral Register?
Yes, but only the Edited Register. If you know which area you require, the Elections Office can give you a price for copies in either printed or data format.
