Oldham's Community Strategy 2005 - 2020

The production of Community Strategies responds to a requirement of the Local Government Act 2000, for all local authorities in England and Wales to produce a Strategy which will promote the economic, environmental and social well-being of their areas and contribute to the achievement of sustainable development.

Community Planning is the process whereby local authorities will work in partnership with other agencies including the private and voluntary, community and faith sectors, to ensure a joined-up approach to service delivery. Community Strategies should be overarching documents, which aim to reflect the needs and aspirations of local communities and co-ordinate the actions of various agencies delivering local services.

The Oldham Partnership is pleased to present its second Community Strategy, which highlights some of the excellent work, that collectively, it has achieved over the last three years.

In addition, the Strategy sets out some of the key actions that each of the Thematic Partnerships represented on the LSP, will undertake over the next three to five years, to improve the quality of life of people living and working in the Borough.

The Strategy highlights a number of ways that you can also become involved and contribute towards the Community Planning process. By working together, we can make a lasting change for future generations.
