If this happens you need to consider the following:

  • Put an overnight bag together (toiletries, warm clothing) if there is time.

  • Take with you any medication you need i.e. tablets, inhaler etc.

  • Arrange for your pets to be taken care of.

  • Take with you baby food/milk, nappies and clothes if you have young children

  • Switch/turn off all utility supplies.

  • Take any valuables, chequebook, social security documents and money with you.

  • Lock all windows and doors to ensure your home is secure.

You may decide not to go to the Rest Centre and prefer to stay with friends or relatives. Inform the police or a neighbour if you decide to do this.

If you have special needs or are elderly, don’t worry. All your needs will be catered for and arrangements made.

Please be patient and cooperate to the best of your ability. Remember Oldham Council and the emergency services are trained to deal with such incidents and will be doing all they can to ensure your safety.
