OLDHAM METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
LOCAL CODE OF CONDUCT COMPLAINTS PROCESS
Changes to the complaints procedure
On 8 May 2008 the responsibility for considering complaints that a member may have breached the Code of Conduct moved to Standards Committees of Local Authorities.
What this means to you
If you want to complain about the conduct of a member of Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council or a member of one of our Parish Councils (Saddleworth or Shaw and Crompton), you must submit your complaint to:
Aileen Johnson
Director of Legal and Democratic Services and Monitoring Officer
Oldham MBC
PO Box 33
Civic Centre
West Street
Oldham
OL1 1UL
The Standards Committee can only deal with complaints about the behaviour of a member. It will not deal with complaints about things that are not covered by the members’ Code of Conduct. If you make a complaint to the Standards Committee it must be about why you think a member has not followed the Code of Conduct.
Further information about the work of the Council’s Standards Committee can be found on our website at http://www.oldham.gov.uk/council/councillors/standards_committee.htm
