Housing & Environment Programme
The overall aim of the Housing and Environment programme is to create a quality environment and to increase satisfaction with the neighbourhood for residents and visitors.
Current Projects
Spatial Masterplan
A joint masterplan between NDC, Oldham Council and Housing Market Renewal was approved in March 2006. The Spatial Masterplan now provides the framework for future development across the area. In addition the NDC Masterplan Implementation project funds for a range of initiatives to support the masterplan including residential refurbishments and environmental.
Stock Transfer
In March 2004 Villages Housing took over the management of the council houses on Fitton Hill. NDC gave a grant to Villages Housing to support the transfer of the houses to them. This is know as the Stock Transfer.
Neighbourhood Solutions
This project is designed to create sustainable Neighbourhood Solutions to environmental problems. The project funds a Street Scene Liasion Officer, Environmental Enforcement Officer, additional street cleansing services and an Environmnental Projects Co-ordinator to support the delivery of an environmental programme.
Neighbourhood Agreements
The Green & Clean agreement and Home Sweet Home agreement support the Housing & Environment programme providing information on what services residents are entilited to and what role the community has to play in improving their neighbourhood.
Community Facilities
This programme improves Community Facilities so that all can use and access them.
Projects previously funded by NDC
All Wrapped Up
The All Wrapped Up scheme provided energy efficiency measures free of charge to home owner across the NDC area, The scheme ran from 2005 and completed its programme in March 2007.
Demolitions and Disposal
As part of the stock transfer programme NDC provided a loan to Villages Housing to bring forward the demolition and disposal programme of 250 properties on the estate.
Street Lighting
Thye provision of enhanced lighting across the NDC area.
