Food safety legislation now requires all catering businesses to write and operate a food safety management policy for their business. This is because such policies significantly raise the standard of food safety and reduce the risk of food poisoning to a minimum.

Safer Food Better Business (SFBB) is an excellent food safety management system, developed and supported by the Food Standards Agency, and many small businesses will choose to use this as their policy. However, many other businesses have developed and successfully use their own systems that also meet the legal requirements.

Information on how well a business has complied with the requirement to produce a food safety management system can now be seen for all catering businesses under the "Scores on the Doors" scheme. Because of this, the listings of businesses using the Safer Food Better business system has now been removed from this site.
