A citizenship ceremony is when the Home Office invites you to give an oath of allegiance or (a citizenship pledge).

You will be invited to a ceremony if:
your application for British citizenship is successful; and if
you are 18 years or older
Your invitation will have:
guidance notes explaining the next steps to take
the wording of the Oath or Affirmation of allegiance and citizenship Pledge
your personal details for you to check
the telephone number and address of your local authority
You must attend the ceremony if you wish to become a British citizen.
Once you have received the information you need to contact Oldham Register Office to book the next available ceremony.
