Building Schools for the Future is a programme of government investment in school buildings and facilities.

Involving students, parents, staff, governors and the wider community is essential to the success of the Building Schools for the Future programme.

Consultation events

Waterhead Academy

As part of Oldham’s plans to transform secondary education Breeze Hill and Counthill schools would close and an Academy sponsored by The Oldham College would be established on former Orb Mill site in Waterhead

If you would like to know more about the proposals, view the designs and plans for the new school, and speak to architects, council officers and planners you can do so at a number of consultation events this month.

New Roman Catholic School

Summary: Viewing of designs and plans for the new school

North Chadderton School and Sixth Form Centre

Dates: 22 June 2010

Summary: Viewing of designs and plans for North Chadderton School and Sixth Form Centre.

Special educational needs

Dates: 2 February 2009 - 13 March 2009

Summary: Establish two new resource bases for young people with severe and complex communication difficulties (including those diagnosed with an autistic spectrum disorder) at Failsworth and North Chadderton Schools.

Roman Catholic secondary school

Dates: 10 November 2008 - 28 November 2008

Summary: Merger of Our Lady’s Roman Catholic High School and St Augustine of Canterbury Roman Catholic School. The merged schools will be on a new site.

Mainstream school consultation

Dates: 18 September 2008 - 15 November 2008

Summary:The expansion of The Hathershaw College of Technology and Sport by one form of entry; The closures of Breeze Hill and Counthill Schools to enable the proposed establishment of an Academy sponsored by the Oldham College; The closures of Kaskenmoor and South Chadderton Schools to enable the proposed establishment of an Academy sponsored by The Oasis Learning Trust; The closure of Grange School to enable the proposed establishment of an Academy sponsored by the British Edutrust Foundation.
