Oldham has many great prospects… and now we have a once in a lifetime opportunity. The council has £230 million to invest in transforming our secondary schools and we want to use this funding to not only improve our schools, but to make Oldham an even better place to learn, live, work and bring up a family.
Most of the money is coming from the Government’s Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme. It will be the single biggest investment in our schools ever made and we have drawn up exciting plans to make sure that we can provide very best facilities and life opportunities for every student and community. We want a better education for every child and young person in Oldham and we also want to make sure that the wider community benefits in more practical ways too. We want our new schools to be centres for the whole community with facilities for the arts, sport and health which are open to everyone, young and old, wherever in Oldham they come from.
