We aim to provide our customers with a high quality homelessness service which meets Oldham Council's statutory duties. Our emphasis is on the prevention of homelessness. Where this is not possible our emphasis is on the provision of permanent homes.
We aim to provide opportunities for people to make positive changes to their lives and to break the cycle of homelessness.
Homelessness means not having a home. Even if you have a roof over your head you can still be homeless, this could be because you do not have any rights to stay where you live or your home might be unsuitable for you.
We can help you if you have nowhere to live or will have nowhere to live in the future. We can offer you advice, assistance and possibly housing. The help we give depends on your circumstances, however we will always offer practical advice and assistance to help you to find a home.
We will carry out enquires to establish you:
If you come to our office without an appointment and have a genuine emergency, we will always help you. However, you may have to wait for a short time before you can see someone.
The Housing Strategy Team is responsible for developing a homeless strategy to tackle homelessness in the borough.
