First Choice Homes Oldham manages approximately 15,000 council owned homes across the Oldham Metropolitan Borough. Each year approximately 1,300 homes become available for rent.
We have homes of various types and sizes, furnished and unfurnished, in most parts of Oldham. The rents are affordable.
Almost anyone can apply for housing, whether you are a new customer or an existing tenant wanting to move.

We can rehouse you regardless of your circumstances, based on your housing needs. However, checks will be carried out to see if you have any outstanding debt or tenancy problems that may affect your eligibility.

Before you can take up a tenancy with us or bid for one of our homes, you must join the Council's Rehousing Register by completing the Rehousing Register Application Form.
You can get this form from our Housing Options Centre, from any of our housing offices, or from the One Stop Shop in the Civic Centre, Oldham.
You can also download the Rehousing Register Application Form here (PDF 381KB) and the leaflet How To Apply (PDF 314KB), which gives guidance on filling in the form. You should print out the form, complete it and send it to any of our housing offices or to the Housing Options Centre. Proof of identification must be provided (e.g. passport, driver's licence, birth certificate (photocopies are acceptable)) for yourself and everyone moving with you, or the form will be returned.
From the information you provide on your application form, we will assess your current housing circumstances and place your application into one of four bandings. These are Urgent, High, Medium and Standard housing need bands.

Most of our available properties are advertised at our Housing Options Centre, local housing offices and on this website. You express your interest in these properties by 'bidding' for them.
You can only bid for these properties if you are currently on the Rehousing Register.
At the end of each week we offer each home to the bidder:
Each week, some of the properties advertised will be let to the bidder who is eligible for the tenancy and has been on the register for the longest time. Current housing circumstances will not be taken into account. These properties will be clearly identified with a picture of an open door (pictured right):
