The area of Alt and the ward of St. James’ have been successful in receiving £818,000 from the Big Lottery, ‘Fair Share Trust’ Programme to help improve their neighbourhoods and strengthen local community organisations.
Both areas have established panels, made up of local representatives, who have drawn up priority funding areas for the programme which will govern how the fund is spent in the next 7 years.
‘Fair Share’ is a strategic grants programme designed, amongst other things, to complement and supplement existing initiatives. It is not a small grants programme and although requests from £5,000 upwards will be considered, it is estimated that average grants will be much larger to reflect the aims and objectives of the fund. Applications can be considered from Voluntary and Community groups, charities, Not-for-Profit Social Enterprises and Co-operatives.
