Selling to Oldham Council
Oldham Council is a major purchaser of goods and services both locally, regionally and nationally. The Council already deals with many local businesses. These may be small or medium sized enterprises (SMEs) or larger businesses based locally. Some examples include:
- Social Care Providers (£30 million per annum);
- Building Companies; and
- Home to School transport providers.
What we buy
If you want to know the range of items that Oldham Council buys, then we have developed a Contracts Register. Follow this link to a full listing of our current contracts, and also those we are hoping to let in the near future. Also included are our major partners. It is listed in broad classifications so you’ll quickly be able to find the category you are interested in.
Best of all there is a listing of telephone numbers and websites, so you’ll be able to make contact and register your interest in any of the opportunities listed.
This is very much a first stab at such a listing, so if you have any comments, please send them to ce.procurement@oldham.gov.uk and we’ll respond to your suggestions.
When buying
Oldham Council will:
- look to help local businesses by including them in tenders where possible;
- want to buy from “good social employers”;
- often need to buy via long term/large contracts;
- want e-enabled suppliers; and
- use its purchasing power to help achieve Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety and Sustainability.
Oldham Council won't:
- always let contracts on lowest price alone;
- mind if you make a profit because you’re a good social employer;
- just give you business because you’re local; and
- be impressed by flash presentations/persistant phone calls.
