Finance and Corporate Governance
Thank you to everyone who supported the launch of the Oldham part of
the ‘Get Our Metrolink Back On Track’ campaign on Friday 10 September at Spindles. There was great support
from the Press and many people signed messages of support.
These were delivered to 10 Downing Street with all the others from our
partners in the campaign, over 41,500 messages in all.
The full story is available on the GMPTE website.
As a result of this pressure the Government has agreed to work with
Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive to find a way of delivering Metrolink. Meetings are
being held and progress is being made. However, it is important that we do not ease up on the pressure.
We are continuing to take the message to wherever decision-makers gather. For example, GMPTE will be
lobbying national business leaders at the CBI Conference in Birmingham on the 8th
and 9th November.
Your support is still needed – make sure all your friends and collegues
are aware of how important Metrolink is for Oldham. Contact don.wagstaff@oldham.gov.uk
for infomation.
