Oldham Sport Development delivers a number of events throughout the year, from community cohesion sporting events to sports awards and conferences. These events are a finale to months of training and planning. Here are some of the many events that Sport Development organise or participate in.
Borough Games – community cohesion based sport festival.
Teams are created through our Sports Provision for Young People programme from Oldham’s 6 area wards. Young people come to a central venue and participate in one of the four sporting competitions.
Greater Manchester Youth Games – Greater Manchester wide sports festival.
The Games is a showcase of sport development in Greater Manchester. The ten boroughs of Greater Manchester have units whose remit is to increase participation and develop young people through sport.
Greater Manchester Mini Games – Greater Manchester wide sports festival.
The Greater Manchester Mini Games is a multisport competition for primary school teams from Greater Manchester.
Sports Awards –
The awards aim to celebrate the contributions and achievements of sports clubs, performers, coaches and volunteers throughout the Borough.
Club Development Conference –
The Oldham Club Development Conference aims to provide an opportunity for representatives from voluntary sports clubs and school PE staff to make contact and come together from across Oldham. The conference provided the opportunity to inform clubs on the latest club development initiatives with a priority focus on Clubmark and School-to-club links.
Young Leader Conference –
The conference aims to reward and recognise young sports volunteers for their positive contribution to sports and to build on community cohesion by bringing all young sports volunteers together from different backgrounds and communities.
