Walkers and cyclists in Oldham are benefitting from the 'Peoples £50 Million Lottery Giveaway' after the Council's success in the competition.

Funding from Sustrans' Connect2 bid will transform local travel in Oldham and 78 other cities, towns and villages across the UK by opening up new walking and cycling routes.

The Borough could benefit from more than £1 million of lottery funding to create a new traffic free cycle route from Shaw across the M62 motorway to Rochdale, Kingsway Business Park and the Rochdale Canal.

Lottery funding could also become available to complete a new cycle route along the former Oldham to Ashton railway line.
