Gallery Concert - 22nd March 2007
These pictures were taken at a concert at Gallery Oldham. This took place on Thursday 22nd March 2007 and included the Music Centre Swing Band, the Clarinet Ensemble, the Double Reed Ensemble, the Guitar Ensemble, the Saxophone Ensemble, the Jazz Combo, the Music Centre String Quartet, the Intermediate Wind Ensemble, the Youth Wind Ensemble, the Intermediate Brass Ensemble and the Youth Brass Ensemble.
The event was very well supported by parents and other members of the public, and took the form of a promenade concert, where the audience moved from one gallery space to the next, following the different performances.
Music Centre Concert Series 12th - 15th March 2007
The Music Centre held different concerts at the Queen Elizabeth Hall each night from Monday to Thursday with each one being a showcase for the larger groups within that section.
Monday’s concert featured the Centre’s Wind bands and a highlight of which was the massed performance of YMCA with dancing on stage from Rose Donmall, Alex Benn and Adele Grogan.
Tuesday featured the String department groups and featured a guest solo performance from Daniel Whibley, the Assistant Principal Double Bass with the Hallé Orchestra.
On Wednesday it was the turn of the Vocal department groups (sadly, no photos), and Thursday saw the Brass Department taking centre stage. Again, there was more dancing on stage at this event with all the members of the Youth Brass Band moving around the platform whilst playing their programme.
Castleshaw Centre - October 2006
Every year the Training Brass Band and Repercussions take part in an outward bound team building event at the Castleshaw Centre. During this weekend they spend each morning rehearsing new pieces for their group and then go off and take part in canoeing, rock-climbing, abseiling, problem-solving and archery. This weekend then culminates with a short concert for parents back at the Music Centre on the Sunday.
