The Oldham Schools' Music Association Award Fund

The Award Fund has been established to provide financial assistance, including the purchase of music, course fees and travelling expenses, to advance the musical training of young people between the ages of eight and twenty-five years, resident in the Oldham Metropolitan Borough area and in receipt of full-time education. The Director of Education annually invites applications from parents, carers and students, through heads of educational establishments in the Borough of Oldham, for the award of prizes to be determined by the Director in consultation with the Head of the Oldham Metropolitan Borough Music Centre and other such persons interested 'in music as the Director of Education may wish to nominate.

The Gerald Pritchett Memorial Prize

This prize was donated by Mrs. Joan Pritchett, in memory of her husband who was Director of Education for Oldham from 1967-77, and is presented each year in Showcase Week. The prize is presented to Music Centre students who have shown loyalty to the Music Centre over a number of years and contributed to its musical life.

The Antony Thornton Hodge Young Musician Award

This award was established in 1990 and is given to a musician of secondary school age for any instrument including voice. Students auditioning for this award should be resident in the Oldham Metropolitan Borough and attend either an Oldham school or the Metropolitan Borough Music Centre.

The Archer and Marjorie Tate Bequest Fund for Music

This fund was established in 1994 and offers financial assistance towards the cost of musical instruments, tuition or course fees for young people between the ages of 11 and 21 living within the Borough who can demonstrate exceptional musical ability.

The Lyceum Award

This award is presented annually by the Trustees of the Lyceum School of Music and is given for the highest marks gained in either Grades VI, VII or VIII of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music examinations.
