Disability Sport

Oldham has a committed inclusion officer who has a responsibility to ensure there is a variety of sporting activities available to people with disabilities or additional needs. Our sports development team are actively involved with a range of partners through the Oldham Disability Steering Group to raise the profile of disability sport throughout the borough, and to make sure there is a strong structure in place to provide sporting opportunities to a range of people.

Ability Sports Roadshow

The aim of the Ability Sport Road Show is to provide an opportunity for young people to take part in a range of appropriate sporting activities with other young people from both mainstream and specialist schools across the borough. In 2008 the Ability Sports Road Show attracted 188 young people with disabilities or additional needs from 31 schools. This event proves a great success in breaking down barriers to sport and physical activity.

Information on the 2009 Ability Sport Road Show will be made available in the near future. For more information contact Elliott Mckinnell on 0161 770 1652
