club accreditation

What is club accreditation?

Club Accreditation is also known as Clubmark, which is the Sport England’s Club Accreditation scheme. This provides a set of standard criteria, which allows clubs to evaluate where they are and helps clubs develop not only their infrastructure but also other areas such as volunteering, membership and recruitment.

Clubs are assessed against four areas:

  • Playing Programme
  • Sports Equity and Ethics
  • Club Management
  • Duty of Care and Child Protection

Clubmark not only allows clubs to develop, but also allows participants, players parents, local authorities and schools to assess how good a club is by looking for the accreditation logo, whatever the sport.

Why is Clubmark important for a club?

It provides guidelines for clubs to work within to ensure safe practice, volunteer development and recruitment.

It helps clubs to evaluate their current position, and helps to develop a sound infrastructure to improve. It also gives access to funding pots that are not available to clubs which are not Club Mark accredited.
