Continuous Improvement

Oldham Sport Development is committed to the continuous improvement of the service. We aim to record, review and develop the work of the service on a continual basis.

Quest is a continuous improvement programme used by Oldham Sport Development. Quest provides a framework for the management of sports based organisations with the purpose of improving the quality of service. It is a national accreditation scheme which allows Oldham Sport Development to benchmark and share good practice with other similar organisations.

In 2006 Oldham Sport Development successfully achieved the Quest registration at the first attempt. The team were scored at 73%, which registered the team as a ‘Quest Approved’ service. Since then the team and its partners has worked hard to ensure that service improvement are recognised and implemented. In January 2008 the service will have its second Quest assessment.

The Quest process involves three stages

  • Self-assessment
  • External validation
  • On- going maintenance

The Quest framework is based around cross cutting themes which the service use to shape its improvement initiatives. These areas include:

  • Research and Community Engagement
  • Planning
  • Partnerships
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Management Support and Leadership
  • People Management and Development
  • Delivery Planning and Procedures
  • Health and Safety Management
  • Customer Relations
  • Marketing
