What is it?

Britannica Online is an online version of the multi volume reference encyclopaedia plus student, elementary and concise versions. It includes photographs and video. In addition, Britannica reviews, rates and indexes over 300,000 websites and provides links to these on the search results page.

Why would I use it?

For any factual information whether it is for a quiz or coursework, research or recreation. You can look up anything in a variety of ways such as subject browse, year in review browse and timeline browse.

Where can I use it?

Besides being available in all of our 13 libraries throughout the borough, Britannica can also be used in your own home, office or any other computer in the world as long as you are a member of Oldham Library. You need your library card number to enter the Britannica website when you are not in a library.

How much does it cost?

The service is absolutely free wherever you use it. If you need to get a library card that is free too. Just pop into your local library with some proof of your name and address and you will be able to join immediately.
