Chadderton Town Centre

Welcome to the Chadderton Town Centre consultation page.

Oldham Council is working with local people and organisations in planning improvements to Chadderton Town Centre.

We need to hear from people who live near or visit the Town Centre area, how they feel about the area and if they have any ideas on how it can be improved. Local knowledge and day-to-day experiences of living, visiting or working in the area will be vital in helping us to identify improvements that reflect the views of local people.

This page has been created to publish information about the consultation events and activities that have taken place and keep people informed of the progress made and the results when they become available. We will add more information to this page as progress is made and new activities are planned.

Questionnaire survey of peoples’ views – Spring 2007

1000 residents in Chadderton were randomly selected from the electoral register and were sent a questionnaire to fill in and return to us. A further 500 questionnaires were given to a range of local groups for their members to complete. Approximately 50% of questionnaires were returned.

Many thanks to those people who have completed and returned a questionnaire and given their views at one of the group discussions. People have generously shared their views, experiences, local knowledge and hopes for Chadderton Town Centre with us. Some of the key messages can be found in the Summary of Results document which can be downloaded here.

How will peoples views be used to improve Chadderton Town Centre?

The answers people gave us will continue to be analysed and results will be made available to the public. A detailed report will also be used to plan new developments and improvements to Chadderton Town Centre. These improvements will help to regenerate the area, improving the prosperity and the quality of the environment in the coming years.

Consulting with local groups and agencies (March to May 2007)

We attended a number of group discussions around Chadderton where we heard the views and suggestions of members of local interest and leisure groups. These groups provided a range of extremely valuable and more detailed information that complement the broader questions in the survey. There is clearly a lot of good feeling about living and working in Chadderton and a rich assortment of ideas on how the Town Centre can be improved.

Many thanks to those groups who have welcomed and helped us so far.
