We may reduce your Housing Benefit and / or Council Tax Benefit if you have grown up children you do not receive Child Benefit for, or any other adult who does not pay rent, living with you. We call these people non-dependants.
If the non dependant is
under 25 and receiving income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support or income-based Jobseekers Allowance,
under 18,
a full time student
we will not take anything off your benefit
There are also certain circumstances where we will not take an amount from your benefit. These include if you or your partner
receive Attendance Allowance, or
receive Disability Living Allowance (care component), or
are registered blind
If any of the above don't apply, we will usually reduce your Housing Benefit and / or Council Tax Benefit by a fixed amount. This amount does not depend on what the non-dependant pays you, even if they pay nothing at all.
We will take the following amounts from your benefit dependant on their gross income
