Welfare Rights Service

Important changes to the service

From 15.5.06 there will be changes to Oldham Welfare Rights and Debt Advice Service.

Although the service will continue to deal with complex benefit and debt matters, and undertake home visits, staff based at the Contact Oldham Call Centre will deal with other advice issues and refer cases on as appropriate.

The service will also no longer be based at the Civic Centre (although they will still have use of the Customer Care Interview Rooms within the One Stop Shop).

  • Arrangements for existing clients
If you are an existing client of the Welfare Rights and Debt Advice Service, your caseworker will notify you of the new service address and telephone details.
  • Arrangements if you have a social worker
If you have a social worker, and you have benefit or debt issues he/she will be able to give you basic advice. However, if you require more detailed advice you will be referred to the most appropriate person to help you.
  • If you do not have a social worker
If you do not have a social worker, but would like advice on benefit or debt issues, you should telephone Contact Oldham on 0161 770 6655.
