Countryside Service

Oldham borough has a great variety of countryside for visitors to enjoy. The Oldham Countryside Service (OCS) aims to provide a countryside that is attractive and accessible to all sections of the community, while safeguarding and enhancing its wildlife and its natural and historic features.

OCS is part of Oldham Council's Environmental Services Directorate and was formed in 1995. It has four main countryside centres in the borough. These are at Strinesdale (Waterhead), where its head office is also based; Brownhill (Dobcross); Daisy Nook (Failsworth); and Tandle Hill (Royton). For further information, please visit our more detailed Oldham Countryside Service page

The OCS rangers organise a wide range of countryside events and activities. To find out more about these, please telephone the Countryside Service using the contact details listed below or see our Oldham Countryside Events leaflet (PDF 921Kb).

See also the Visit Oldham website (via the external link below) which contains information on Oldham’s countryside and the events that take place throughout the year.
