School Complaints Procedure

Legislation has placed the responsibility for investigating and responding to complaints about schools with the Governing Body of each school.

A parent or other person who has a complaint about a school should first seek to resolve it with the member of staff concerned. If the complaint remains unresolved, the complainant should ask for an appointment to discuss it with the Headteacher, Deputy Head, or, in a secondary school, the Head of Year. Contact details can be found on the schools in Oldham pages.

If the school staff are unable to resolve the complaint to the satisfaction of the complainant, a formal complaint should then be made in writing to the Chair of the school’s Governing Body. The letter should be addressed to the Chair of the Governing Body, care of the school office, or care of the Governor Support & Training Service at the address below.

All Oldham schools have a School Complaints Procedure for addressing the concerns of parents/carers or other members of the community, a copy of which can be obtained directly from the school.
